God’s word spoken for Ipswich

Leaders have been meeting together for several years on a regularly weekly basis to seek God’s heart for the town, to listen and to pray. Over the years we have made notes in what has become known as ‘the book’ and would like to share some of these with you for your encouragement and prayer, thinking of these verses in 1 Kings 18: 41- 45.

And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”
The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’ ”
Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

Elijah knew that the rain would be coming because God had spoke it, but he stil had to get down on his knees and pray it in, while being proactive in sending his servant backwards and forwards to keep watch and let him know when the rain was imminent. In the same way, we have received these words for Ipswich, and continue to wait in faith for those that have still to come.
